On the 16th of February, 1994, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenian Republic spread press-communiqué, stating that 8 Azerbaijani prisoners of war were killed when attempted to escape during the skirmish in Yerevan.

On the 23-rd of March, 1994, after persistent requirements of the Azerbaijani side, 10 corpses of Azerbaijani prisoners of war were taken from Yerevan to Baku by the representatives of the ICRC on the 23-25-th of March, 1994, and subjected to forensic examination. The corpses were photographed and there were also held additional laboratorial, chemical, histological, biological and criminal investigations. As a result of the examination, it was determined that there were the through bullet wounds on the temporal lobe of head of the 8 corpses. In three cases the shots were fired point-blank, but in other cases they were made at a very short distance, with the purpose of deliberate killing. During the investigation it was found out that one of the corpses did not have liver, spleen and heart and its right external ear was cut off. And the other two corpses, the first had no external ears at all and the second one hadn't the right external ear respectively.
